The Napa High School Girl’s Varsity Softball team are CIF-San Joaquin section champions!

The Indians were the eighth seed in the section playoffs and started hot by upsetting the number one seed, by a score of 4-1. Freshman Grace Guzman had one RBI and scored twice. Jenna Baker pitched a complete game, only giving up five hits and one run.

The next game Napa played was against the twelfth seed Vacaville. The Indians kept up their hot start by hammering Vacaville to the tune of 8-0. Sophomore Kimmie Walston and junior Brianna Bowers both had two RBIs. Jenna Baker again pitched, only surrendering five hits and recording seven strikeouts without giving up a run.

The next game, Napa faced Del Campo, the third seed in the playoffs. It was a tight contest between the two, but Napa was victorious in the end, beating Del Campo 5-4. All of Napa’s runs came in the final inning to capture the win.

Del Campo eventually advanced to facing Napa in the final game of the playoffs. Napa came out on top of the high scoring affair 9-8, earning them the title CIF-San Joaquin section champions. Brianna Bowers accounted for 4 hits and 3 RBIs.

Junior Peyton Mott decided that the first game against Del Campo was the most memorable game of the playoffs. “Honestly, the team didn’t have the most confidence throughout the season, like, ‘there is no way we’ll make it to the last game.’ And we were playing a really good team Del Campo, so it was really awesome to get to beat them and we only won by one point”.

Mott also talked about defending the title, “we’re only losing one player this year, we only have one senior graduating, so I think that will help. And we have a really talented team, I think that all of us are going to work really hard, and we all play on travel teams too, so it will get us even more ready for next year.”
