Wednesday, March 15th, Napa high Track and Field went against their rival at Vintage high school, running, jumping and throwing their way to a close victory.

With the JV Girls and boys falling behind in the running events, they recovered after being saved by the field events. Napa claimed victory in Varsity boys and girls, Napa won most of the Varsity running events, but fell short in others. With the JV team barely holding their own in the jumping events, the throwers had a lot of pressure to pick up the slack, and succeeded in at least closing the gap in the JV division.

Varsity boys and Girls were at top performance and ran their best, claiming victory in almost all of their events, from running to jumping to throwing, helping Napa to claim victory and beat Vintage after losing to them last year.

Vintage ran their best, claiming victories in many of the sprints, but got overwhelmed in the long distance events and the relays.  Napa made sure that even if Vintage won in any event, it was just barely, giving everything they had to make sure that Vintage doesn’t forget what Napa High willpower feels like.

Napa High 100 and 200 meter runner Jay Robichau feels proud of his team, feeling like “We gave it all we had, and in the end, we’ll look at that, it payed off in the end, with us on top and Vintage taking the loss.”

“We’re a strong team, and the fact that it was Vintage we were going up against made our will to win even stronger, our desire to claim victory driving us to try harder than we’ve ever done before.”

Napa High thrower Darius Bunter feels much the same way, feeling pride in his team and ecstasy that they claimed victory over Vintage. “We all knew what it meant when we stepped on Vintage’s track. Both teams knew the other had a desire to win, to show everyone who was better, but clearly Napa had more will, and that drove us to be the best that we can be, better than we thought possible.”

Napa High took the victory from Vintage, and will make sure that Vintage remembers who’s the best on the track.
